SLASHING THE SUNLIGHT Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Yeah, it’s a mighty big road in the US of A, you take it 90 miles an hour alright Never have to slow down cuz there’s no one around, white line highway zips on by at night, You keep your dog and your beer and your gun up in front, no turnin’ back for the time of your life, Best keep your four-wheeled truck just-a hummin’ along, you two seem better than you do with your wife, And in the midst of insanity, you get no second chance at slashing the sunlight." Slash! "Don’t walk away just because you’ve flattened the mack, the juggernauts will have their field day I hear coyotes on the hills, baying out your back door, they’re only in it for the savagery My time outside’s in the early morn and late at night, it’s too damn hot summer days of the year. So kick on back with a beer and a hootchie alright, that’s just the way we like to roll around here, And in the middle of uncertainty, there ain't no second chance at slashing the sunlight." Slash!

ONLINE WORLD Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "How you caught my eye online (I wasn’t searchin’ for ya) Microblogging all the time! Chasing friends outside your sphere (in the corporate show) Those things shouldn’t happen here! In Your Online World, another tweet, another girl Just a blip in your social swirl, in your online world Shows the last time you logged on (guess you haven’t slept much) Have you been away that long? Comments reach a fever pitch (except on your own blog) All too often bitch bitch bitch In Your Online World, another planet, another girl Just a tweet in your social swirl, in your online world Busy as you’ll ever be, too bad you’re broke, there’s no money! In Your Online World, another tweet, another girl Just a blip in your social swirl, in your online world."

HEAD FOR THE HILLS Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Bangin’ it out in the Season of Sun Change of place good enough reason for fun, From the clubs to the shrubs, kick up dust, try to tear off the roof, this one trick pony goes deep in search of the truth. But the times are lettin’ me down (can’t stand it) In the red, the beige and the brown (way out west) No smiles I see just frowns (Can’t take it) That’s all I get all around. Which way is Up? Looks turned around from here Closing signs, no work, very little cheer Bills and bills and bills and bills and BILLS! Thinkin’ it might be high time to head for the hills Planes are flyin’ too low (photo op) Economy’s movin’ too slow (full on stop) Shoot me and watch it heal (Wolverine) That’s all I get all around Yeah, it’s time to head for the hills Hey hey hey Ooh yeah, I’ve had my share of thrills Hey hey hey Ohhh, yeah, I'm needin’ more than some pills, to make me chill I think it's high time....to head...for the hills But the times are gettin’ me down (can’t stand it) In the red, the beige and the brown (way out west) No smiles I see just frowns (Can’t take it) That’s all I get all around. Yeah, it’s time to head for the hills Hey hey hey Ooh, yeah, I’ve had my share of thrills Hey hey hey Ohhh, yeah,I'm needin’ more than some pills, to make me chill Well, it's high time...to head for the hills."

WHEN I GO AWAY Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Thinkin....lately...about the people I have known, blowing them off to be alone. Maybe...I should...reconsider what I've done, step away from oblivion. Seems I've found there's very little good in me, selfish ways running unchecked, blaming the world for my uncertainty, It's a wonder....I'm still OK...at the end of the day. Never....took the...time to...learn about my friends, myopia deep inside the lens. Tryin'...harder...to get it... right again next time, just another upward climb. Fortune still reigns, but it ain't raining down these days, Nearing the start of the second half, throw the Hail Mary and have a laugh, it's a wonder I'm still OK.... ...but I'm hurtin' inside, I'm so unsatisfied, like a wake up bomb for the rest of my life.... Selfish ways need correction right away, chasing a dream has left it mark, oh, LOTS of casualties, And I wonder....what you might say... When I Go Away."

TOO MUCH REGULATION Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Cripes!" I said, when I saw what they did next The Feds or someone put all the rules into text It used to be that people could lead the lives they led, Now I read there are even rules for when we’re dead. Too Much Regulation’s gonna kill us all, Kill the spark that once led us so tall What happens when the day comes when we can’t even look at someone? I’m afraid all the good times are gone. Ya see I’m interested in the spirit of love and truth and happiness, I want to look up for the contact above, But I can’t reach it, Under the weight of the glove of the law, That covers and smothers all of us. Too Much Regulation’s gonna kill us all, Kill the spark that once led us so tall What happens when the day comes when we can’t even look at someone? I’m afraid all the good times are gone. They’re gonna regulate our streets (in the streets) They’re gonna regulate what we do between the sheets, (between the sheets) First legislation, (regulate your facelift baby) Then indigestion. I’m not sure I can take any more of this shit. It’s Rock n Roll, It’s Rock n Roll, It’s Rock n Roll

NEXT BIG THING IS HERE Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Melody keeps hitting me, pushing songs out fearlessly, and I enjoy the feeling, Corporation T-shirt needs a change, time to clean the armpit stains, we'll get it done, Knock down doors for all of us, make some noise, scream and cuss for all the good shit, patience wearing really thin, skip the process, time to win and move ahead... So what are you waiting for? The Next Big Thing is here! You ain't looking hard enough! Don't be put off by all the buzzing that you hear, cuz the Next Big Thing is Here. Vanguard rocked the Gothic Bar, now dead and gone, put it in a song that kicks some ass, healthy service from the front, that's what the boys like, now give it up, Give me 10 minutes tops, keep the other five for teenage snots, the market cares, apart from that, I feel great, girls and boys are on the make, oooh, when it's hot. So what are you waiting for? The Next Big Thing is here! You're not looking hard enough! Pay more attention to the joyous sound you hear, cuz the Next Big Thing is Here. So what are you waiting for? The Next Big Thing is here! You're not looking hard enough! Don't be put off by all that buzzing that you hear, cuz the Next Big Thing.... It's Right here! It's Right here! It's Right here! The Next Big Thing is Right Here!"

On My Mind 02:26
ON MY MIND Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "Thirty-six long months ago, you poured my beer though I wanted to go, keepin' winks on the down low, baby you charmed me. Oozing personality, living life unashamedly I couldn't fathom goin' a day without you. You Were on My Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, clear as the day. You Were on My Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, yesterday. Really liked the way you kept it so true, you took one and one and you built up a two, Mixin' with the stars in your interviews, you left no stone unturned. Oozing personality, living life unashamedly I couldn't fathom goin' a day without you. You Were on My Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, no goin' halfway. You Were on My Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, babe You Were on my Mind, clear as the day."

In Our Time 03:28
IN OUR TIME Words and Music - Dfactor FunstuffMusic 2009 All Rights Reserved/All Wrongs Reversed "There was a time, when she'd show me, over, above, below me, in summertime, that summer feeling's here again... Finding our place, we'd own it, whiskey and lace, she's moanin' get to a place that's right in front of you. Shake the dust off your shoes, create new ways to break old rules, lift up your hands and throw your cares away. In Our time, we all stand Over time, hand in hand sharing love with my girl, together in this world In Our Time. Dig the surprise, enjoy it don't criticize, explore it wear a disguise if you must to fool around. Finding no trace, disown it, Make about face, invoke it Get to a place that's right in front of you. So kick the dirt off your shoes, break the rules and make the news give her love and throw your hands around her. In Our Time, we all stand Over Time, hand in hand Sharing love with my girl, together in this world Sharing love with my girl, together in this world Sharing love with my girl, together in this world... In Our Time."

Hey, where's ya put all your money, I'm lookin' for some spare change, the season's now come upon us, lookin' like everything is strange. Was it Silver or Gold? A healthy portion is all I want, Just take me to where it is stored, and we won't have any problems. So now you see what I'm doin' you know I don't mess around, Why don't you follow the program, maybe your friends won't have to come Lookin' for you. In every man's life, there's a time to put up or shut up. You think ya got all the answers, but maybe it's just a windup. Were the takings all clean? Unmarked bills is the bottom line Your work has netted you yours and now I'll take what is mine. So now you see what I'm doin' you know I don't mess around, And if you follow the program, maybe your friends won't have to come... So now you see what I'm doin' you know I don't mess around, And if you follow the program, maybe your friends won't have to come ....Lookin' for you.

Shake Some Action Jordan/Wilson (recorded by The Flamin' Groovies, 1976) "I will find a way To get to you some day. Oh, but I, babe, I'm so afraid I'll fall, yeah. Now can't you hear me call? Shake some action's what I need To let me bust out at full speed. I'm sure that's all you need To make it all right. It's taken me so long To get where I belong Oh, but, oh, please don't send me back that way, yeah. For I will make you pay. (refrain) If you don't dig what I say Then I will go away. And I won't come back this again. No. 'Cause I don't need a friend. (refrain)

about

"Alright guys, this is the way we like to rock and roll,
come along for the ride."

This is it - the 2009 rock and roll release 'Slashing the Sunlight' from Dfactor, the indie rock 'n roller who embodies today's Do-It-Yourself (DIY) ethic with earnestness and commitment.

The full LP is now available for FREE download - a Merry Christmas from me to you! There is an extra added track as well - my version of the Flaming Groovies classic powerpopper 'Shake Some Action' is up as well, so it's like major bonus rock! All 13 songs come to you in high-quality MP3 or higher quality format (your choice). The full physical CD is available on iTunes, CDBaby and other online retailers.

The 12 songs on 'Slashing the Sunlight' represent bits of Dfactor's fun in rockin' out in rehearsal studios, rock clubs and backyard fetes. Dfactor covers more thematic territory than ever before. And more often than not, recurring notions of slice-of-life U.S. recessionary blues hits home on more than a few of these songs.

Opener 'Slashing the Sunlight' blends The Standells' grit with Springsteen charisma for a rousing left-of-the-dial American anthem. And in 'Head for the Hills', Dfactor sings of the anguish over the recession's effect on his new city home. "Phoenix has really taken it on the chin in this recession, I've learned" Dfactor says, "and it's tough to drive around and see closing signs, empty storefronts and high unemployment." But in his typical way, Dfactor's taken his observations and turned it into a rockin' song. Some might say the knock-out chorus kicks the song into classic rock land. And they may be right.

Dfactor's still describing his music as 'cool, catchy garage pop' and songs like 'Shake It', 'When I Go Away' 'Online World' and 'On My Mind' all capture the giddy, enthusiastic powerpop/garage rock that has marked Dfactor's best work, from his early days as Anthemic Pop Wonder to his current output.

Dfactor wrote all the songs, arranged 'em, recorded and mixed 'em. Pretty hardcore DIY, but that's the way he's been working for awhile now. On top of the music, he took the cover photo, made the artwork and worked the Web tubes to deliver these songs to his (m)eager fanbase. Heck, he (I) even wrote this damned promo piece! "It's a lonely space at times, but the work is swifter," he says.

And there are a lot more songs to come, Dfactor hints. These 'Slashing the Sunlight' songs represent just a sliver of what he's written over the last few years. He's already in pre-production for his next recording project, with already recorded demos of garage pop gems like "Ain't Goin' Down No More", "See the Perfection", 'Two Times Higher" and "Ready, Set Go!".

Come along for the ride.
