Crawling through the wreckage of this life I've explored Can I salvage bits and pieces, match 'em up with chords? Shaking off delirium from 20 years ago I think I drank a bit too much, the beer just always flowed Automatic Focus, no-proof style today At the same time, The Strokes are back to play! Discovering the tracks I left upon the open road Walking with my Air Force 1s, my pace has somewhat slowed But still I rock on faithfully, thanks to the ones who know For I am still addicted to the joys of rock and roll Automatic Focus, no-proof style today At the same time, The Strokes are back to play! Come on! Come on! Come on! Automatic Focus Come on! Automatic Focus Come on! Automatic Focus Come on! Automatic Focus

They say it’s all about to change This time for reals, it’s not the same Can’t ya see that this is not a game Just take a look around us all Panic in the streets, no protocol Will we have to fight before we fall? The bigger problem, clear to see Isolation versus humanity Caught up in fear, insecurity Can you believe the way it’s gone? Unclear insights, way too long Caught in a trap, it feels so wrong Time to fight and take a stand We’re in charge, we’re in command Learn to ride out this shockwave In the home of the brave, In the home of the brave Look up and down, it’s in your town Look left and right, who’s within sight? Six feet away, avoid a fight It’s comin’ down, the overflow The speed, the pace, right to know And it’s all getting captured on video! Time to fight and take a stand We’re in charge, we’re in command Gotta beat this shockwave In the home of the brave In the home of the brave In the home of the brave In the home of the brave

Curving down the road again, Reinvent yourself again Over and over - time is right to start What’s gone down is no accident, Shake up time is imminent Closer & closer - those in charge must stop Tell all your friends - time to be free again, time to have fun again Stand up and shout - it’s what we want … Tired of being second-guessed, sure looks like you’re in distress It’s so thick, you can cut it with a knife - sliiice... Tell all your friends - time to be free again, time to have fun again Looks like it’s gonna go down to the wire This is gonna be the year, closer to the edge, I fear Do the right thing before they say you must stop Cuz you are just so talented, and all around spirited Over and over - time is right to start

Do you remember when we first met? Oh yeah, that party was lit All of your friends drinking shots, the liquor just wouldn’t quit We were laughing, we saw the fun I couldn’t take my eyes off you, our love had just begun A couple of months is all it took For you and I to make a pair I loved everything about you Your smile, your kiss and your stare Now you’re starting to tell me Everything I really shouldn’t know Maybe baby think twice Before you let it all go Yes, I really love you, you can tell me anything Just keep a little mystery, please don’t tell me everything Yes, I really love you, you can tell me anything Just keep a little mystery, and please don’t tell me everything Yes, I really love you, you can tell me anything Just keep a little mystery, please don’t tell me everything Yes, I really love you, you can tell me anything Just keep a little mystery, and please don’t tell me everything

You’re so lovable, the way you toss your hair Indescribable, I see what you did there Is it cool to remember what we did at the show? Can I share what you told me with everyone I know? What you said to me, shook me like cold gin In the light of day, I took it on the chin Things we said that day, when all hope faded away Left without a trace, off to a different place Now You’re Gone Again I see I could not hold you no more You’ll be back my friend And I know that’s worth waiting for... Things we said that day, I’ve forgotten anyway Make the best of it, and if you come back I’ll give you payback Now You’re Gone Again I see I could not hold you no more Please come back my friend I’ll be waiting at the door

Strike, mission, raid, or incident? These are the lies being fed to us all, Who to believe when the timing is urgent? You make the call! We live in a world that’s gone way mad, and the pressure’s gotten really bad, Could you leave the trouble behind? Go sad to glad! We see a world gone mental! A different sort of special, yeah… Are you ready for the battle, are you ready for war? It’s a brewin’ outside your door…. Get your arsenal together - what are you waitin’ for? I don’t have all the answers, but the questions are there, it’s time to prepare Just in case we need to go against the billionaires Attention spans are nowhere! So how to get to somewhere? Ready for All, Yield to None Ready for All, Yield to None Swing for the Ball, Time has Begun Ready for All…. are you?

Time to Fly 03:48
The scene is set as you wake up to a brand new day No troubles ain’t gonna come your way Ignore the news, better focus on the stuff to do That’s the work that’s been set before you It’s your time to fly… open your eyes Lose the distractions, set a course, move ahead, defy Cuz you gotta fly... fly so high Shake up the system, climb aboard and take a wild ride What would you do if time and money weren’t a thing? Could you surpass the expectation in you? It’s time to find that route and chase it today Success might be right there waiting for you It’s your time to fly… fly so high Shake up the system, climb aboard and take a wild ride It’s your time to fly… open your eyes Lose the distractions, set a course, move ahead, defy Inside this life, you only gonna get one shot Better take what you can, stoke the flames and make it hot! It’s your time to fly… open your eyes Lose the distractions, set a course, move ahead, defy Cuz you gotta fly...fly so high Shake up the system, climb aboard and take a wild ride

Double year, time to put up or shut up It's got to be top of your mind I can't recall a single word from last year Just mistruths and lies Disinformation moves us in disarray How are we to decide? Where are the rights we have? Or have we been wronged Fight for our right to get along!

about

Here's the new Dfactor Pop full-length music release - Automatic Focus - the 3rd full-length in 3 years! Nine songs brimming with guitar riffs, vocal melodies, choruses and hooks!

Dfactor's newest release is part power pop, part Jonathan Richman musical simplicity, part garage rock and part punk rock, wrapped in a quick and tidy bow for busy people on the go! It's 2020, let's get our lives back!

The new single and title track "Automatic Focus" leads off the release, with rollicking guitar riffs over familiar chords. Dfactor throws in some cool guitar leads, and a shout-out to The Strokes in the chorus. Seems like an obvious opener!

It's followed by earlier singles "Home of the Brave" and "Time to Be Free Again". "Home of the Brave" is a walloping punk rocker that seeks to rally us all in the fight against the unseen enemy. Cuz we're strong, that's what we do, in the Home of the Brave. "Time to Be Free Again" channels 1964's Johnny Rivers' "Live at the Troubadour" vibe for a folk-pop number that opens up new vistas in Dfactor's songwriting.

Next up is the standout powerpopper "Tell Me Anything", a fast, catchy rocker that uses descending chords to tell the tale of a guy who doesn't need to know everything in his new love relationship. But it happens anyway.

"Now You're Gone Again" is a (possibly?) Weezer-like ballad that pairs cool minor chords with a loud rock chorus, and some great singing by Dfactor about a back-and-forth love relationship.

"Ready for All" is a rocker that combines its bouncy pop beat with lyrics about the social inequalities we all face.

"I'm a PUA" is the calling card of a cad, one who seeks to charm and manipulate frisky females. It's set to a downtown jazzy punk beat with rollicking drums, a freakout organ solo and ripping guitar solo. Plus, it may contain the most extensive use of one acronym you'll ever hear in a pop song.

"Time to Fly" is rock n roll 4/4 beat, three chords, a bit of a groovy soul vibe with an uplifting lyric to inspire and encourage. It was the first song recorded for the release.

"The Rights We Have" rounds out the release, a folky guitar piano song with a longish (by Dfactor standards) guitar solo that could've gone on for 10 more minutes if I could play that much lead guitar!

The full "Automatic Focus" release should be streaming on all your favorite outlets within days, if not already.
