1.
Desperate Measures Calling out the mistruths, see it on the news, yelling at my neighbors, cuz they don't have a clue, dreaming of my next life, the one without the bums, strip away all the strife, no more need for Tums, Cuz I'm gonna roll, moving forward to my goal, yeah I'm gonna run, and bring along my gun, no you can't come along, to me that feels all wrong, it's time for my move, it's what I got to prove. Times are different now, life has turned upside down, taking stock of yourself, Desperate Times Demand Desperate Measures
2.
Vagabonds and Spies Read between the lines Watching the decline Will you pay the fines? Looks like you're on deadline Tired of all the hate it just aggravates None of it first-rate Why even choose to nominate? Tear down the ceiling, it’s revealing the things that you can prove So on your way there, maybe prepare Be the one to move On our mobile phones imposing all our own Plans to overthrow the ones who are in control Calling out the lies of vagabonds and spies No more shaking hands with those whom you despise Instead of wheeling and dealing that’s how it usually goes Try to discover one another Open up the gates no more hesitation
3.
Where Have All the Good Times Gone? (R. Davies) Well, I lived my life and never stopped to worry 'bout a thing Opened up and shouted out and never tried to sing Wondering if I'd done wrong Will this depression last too long? Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone? Once we had an easy ride and always felt the same Time was on our side and I had everything to gain Let it be like yesterday Please let me have happy days Ma and Pa look back at all the things they used to do Didn't have no money and they always told the truth Daddy didn't have no toys And mummy didn't need no boys Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone? Yesterday was such an easy game for you to play But let's face it, things are so much easier today Guess you need some bringing down And get your feet back on the ground Won't you tell me Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone? Where have all the good times gone?

about

2020 is a year to remember.... or forget? The psychological dramas that we've all faced this year come to the forefront in two new originals from Dfactor Dave's new 3-song EP titled "2020".

The EP's two new originals are "Desperate Measures" and "Vagabonds and Spies", both written and recorded earlier in the pandemic. Both come loaded to the hilt with cool guitar hooks, catchy phrasing, topical themes and Dfactor's rock and roll energy levels on target.

And a bonus! A ripping cover version of an apropos song for the pandemic, The Kinks' "Where Have All the Good Times Gone?"

"These two songs -- "Desperate Measures" and "Vagabonds and Spies" -- came together earlier this year, but didn't make my deadline for the 'Automatic Focus' LP released in May. I worked on these a bit more through the summer, adding in lyrics of frustration and anger, and shading the music with some backing harmonies and keyboards.

It took extra time to finish the recordings at home, what with family members stuck at home and inhibiting my 'zone flow' method of recording....

And in a despondent mid-summer moment, when I was desperate for a trip, a break, a beach weekend, I found myself continually asking "What is going on? Where have the good times gone?" Cuz I'm a guy who wants to have energetic fun! And that shit was shut down this year. And that's how recording a cover version of the great Ray Davies B-side "Where Have All the Good Times Gone?" came into play. For me, I sang it like a lament for this year, whereas Ray Davies sang it with a different POV.  But still, rockin' number, cool chords, great chorus.

Despite being stuck inside because of the pandemic and the record-breaking AZ summer heat, I had a productive summer writing songs - I've got nearly seven cool, catchy rockers already being demoed. Look out 2021!
