Dfactor's first-ever (real) recordings! Recently unearthed lo-fi cassette tapes digitized for modern formats! Originals & Covers!

Way before there were any cool cocktails or party tarts, these songs from Dfactor's first real recordings show the genesis of his songwriting flair and his love of classic rock and American underground indie rock, shown by his choice of Elvis Presley, Beatles and Husker Du covers.

These four originals and five rock covers are sung and played by Dfactor with wobbly guitar and desktop drums, and recorded with buckets of reverb on a radio station studio's 2-track reel-to-reel.

Dfactor tells the story: "I'd played guitar for a few years and was writing songs, and my then-girlfriend worked at a local restaurant on Saturday nights. I sort of found a way to go to the local radio station and record stuff in its production studio. I probably did these songs over a period of a few Saturday nights in 1986. The Husker covers help date these."

"I like 'em - the songs are the sounds of a rock 'n roll kid just feeling his feet and hearing his voice on playback. The feeling I hear is goofy, earnest, serious and silly all rolled into one."

This is the first of an anticipated series of recordings from Dfactor's archives. More to come include rare unreleased 4-track songs, live shows and more.

"Grab the Indies" Sounds abound from within these shores, intelligent rockers yearn for more, mass appeal has no appeal for me, I open up my eyes for bands with purpose and unity. Band for money, music for money, it's been around a long time, Money's a sin, baby who are the sinners? Sorry, good Lord, but they're program directors. Fuck the radio if they can't bend the rules, ya know, ads for money for folks who need cheap thrills, people who seemingly care about music (they don't care, they don't care), you know PMs and GMs and GDs and MDs, something like that... Strength in Numbers She takes care of me when I'm down and distressed, she's close to me when I'm lonely and depressed, strength in feelings, strength in her heart, strength in numbers, we shall never part. And when I'm down, I keep her along the way I know it's all for her (?) each and every day, I can see the painting on the wall, just to make her feel she's all alone And I know, and I know it's alright for her and I know it's OK...... Ahhhh, oohhhhh, aahhhhh, Ahhhh, oohhhhh, aahhhhh. Tell me why, I'm dying, tell me why, I'm cryin' Tell me why, tell me why... Whoa-oh, ahhh, ohhhh, ahhh, ohhhh, ahhh, ohhhh, ahhhh.
